How to succeed as an IoT Entrepreneur ?

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is system of systems and truly interdisciplinary in nature involving not just cloud technologies, hardware, software, some business sense, finance but deep rooted technology challenges if the start-up idea involves a sensor/sensor networks or actuators in their solutions. Many a times, young minds unaware of what is thrown in the market as sensors or actuators may not be meeting their requirements as assumed or envisaged get surprised later that the whole business case is jeopardised because of ignoring essentials of their key elements sensors/actuators. This is an empirical data that the failure due to this ignorance/ intentional oblivion by experienced ones in IoT entrepreneurs community is very large. This is because of their desperate need to succeed in small span of time due to peer pressure of more successful ecommerce based startups or other much more easier but rewarding initiatives in terms of finances and time to succeed.
  • Easier said than done. What measures are being taken by ecosystems of start-up initiatives to address this problem ? Unfortunately, none. There are so many stakeholders and infrastructure enablers supported by government bodies or large corporates in significant numbers but they are yet to make any significant impact. I am hopeful they will make the desired impact one day as the young and energetic minds coming out of tech institutions (fresh or drop outs), primarily inspired by global entrepreneurial leaderships like Steve Jobs and Elon Musks are unstoppable. The only concern could be that governments and controllers in the regions of concern should refrain from being hindrances if not facilitators in true spirit. However, good news is that the very culture of honesty, transparency and teamwork is flooding rest of the world thanks for proactive nature assisted diffusion of social mindset from regions where it existed for long time towards less fortunate regions is happening in irreversible fashion.
  • Start up coaches with clear agenda of serving the community in sufi fakir model with their human values and socio spiritual nature at forefront are needed as need of the day. As there is scarcity of such leaders in larger densely populated regions of the world, and hence the opportunity. The rich availability of technically sound and enriched technology experience in Bangalore and like cities who can address hard core tech challenges is a boon we are living with but unutilized. Technology integrators and human skill orchestrators joining hands together are bound to revolutionize the entrepreneurial landscape in Indian subcontinent and adjoining area.
  • There are no problems in the world that we can not solve if our dreams and corollary thoughts are aligned with nature's laws and value system in alignment with the same. Experiments as best technology teachers !

What leads to leanings are experiments and experiments ! One may argue that thinking, planning, creating plans and predictions on the basis of prior knowledge is essential too. It is true. However, the former is much much more important because it needs efforts, skills to work with hands on, investment in hard cash, support of ecosystems (interdependence) and courage to try out new ideas experimentally.

Once an experiment is executed on the basis of core values of science, technology and engineering as fundamental knowledge, a creative and imaginative mind intended to learn and solve a specific problem works of it own and derives conclusions and gets guided to new experiment for evolving towards closer to ultimate solution. The mind is an self driven pattern generating machine on the basis of data fed into it through experimental findings and experiences of knowledge. The way there is hardly anything to be done by one who eats food and rests, digestion of food is automatic without any need of conscious intervention by the consumer. In fact, intervention even by unnecessary thoughts may hamper the digestion and hamper the very purpose of eating food. In the similar fashion, when experiences on the basis of scientific data is consumed by mind, it generates it conclusions the same way.

The same is true for connected and synchronized organized body of valued engineering professionals and problem solvers. When organizations based on core values of business and principles of "good for all life" perform experiments and acquire natural data ultimately leaving results to the very independent and self creating and correcting natural forces, connected conscious mind forces make conclusions that fits and suites all. This is too real to call it imaginative or abstract in nature.

Most of scientific and social discoveries have been generated by such courageous experiments in the history of humanity. These discoveries have always led to betterment of humanity and businesses although a little uncomfortable while accepting new outcomes as way of business and hence life styles.

New Law to Drive Semiconductor Markets !

Moore's law, driving Semiconductor Industry has been one of the most unprecedented business predictions turning out to be true and has been goal setting law for large semiconductor industry across the planet till date. What did make this law so successful ? One could guess that it's success is because of Moore's dream and all associated high tech engineering resources getting aligned to it. Business is all about growth and not about stagnant and stationary idle revenue. Let me mention that it is not the device miniaturization limited due to ultimate atomic size that would end Moore's law but the saturating electronic market limited to hand held devices and computational resources.

No industry grows in isolation until it integrates itself with rest of other resources and global problems. Although, Electronics industry grew in its' own comfort zone for almost 7 decades with invention of transistors in 1948 leaving aside vacuum tubes technologies prior to World War 2. Thanks to technology leaders like Gordon Moore for this long success story. Now is the time to redefine how electronics industry integrates with rest of other industries rather aggressively than just philosophically. Internet of Things is a philosophy yet, just showing exciting opportunity for multidisciplinary technical forces and industries to come together to address vexing problems around us. Potential of growth does exist but it needs industrial forces to come out of their comfort zone and work with electronics folks and same is true for electronics centric industries.

The problem statements are now floating all around and promises of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and fashion to make things cognitive reducing human intervention to its' minimum is choice of all for their growth. World of matter needs to be integrated with world of bits (or qubits whenever it justifies its supremacy). The more integration of various disciplines takes place, more of solutions emerge out making deployments of IoT products and solutions real than imaginative. No technologies can be integrated until human resources engaged in various disciplines are made to integrate in lean organizations.

It may not be as easy as Moore's law as it focused on just transistor based technology and physical miniaturization, but this law can inspire other industries to adopt use of electronics based resources for similar road-map. Now new law for growth of industrialization is that how aggressively it adopts to electronics industry and more than Moore technologies into its' growth road-map. This necessitates localization of highly globalized electronics industries not just in certain regions of globe but all regions that are rich in human resources. Let business that has highest potential to integrate humanity drive polities irrespective of political boundaries than other way round. As things become cognitive and intelligent, human resources would need to grow from their traditional narrow approach towards human integration.
